And yet corporate leaders and politicians are all about saying the right thing. But it is completely different than doing the right thing. The reality is that it is easy to say the right thing. Their values are their core values and mission statement, vision statement etc.īut how many times do we see the mission statement of a company and think “wow, that is nothing like my experience working with them.” Saying versus Doing Their personality is their corporate culture. Their actions are usually determined by their processes and procedures. Governments and businesses all relate to this too. It is when we do these things over and over that it starts to determine who we are. But if we limit these instances, they don’t define us. These times tend to feel like it wasn’t really us or that it feels like a different person committed the act. There were times when we did something inappropriate or hurtful and had to apologize. We all know people who believe and say one thing but act a completely different way. Change there will mean change everywhere.īut to me this doesn’t align with what I have seen. His main point was that to change you have to start at the values level. Then he asserted that our personality dictates our actions.
